
3. Accreditation Application
Process
NALAG (VIC) offers professional accreditation to loss and grief counsellors and educators.
Applications must be on the official Application
Form and include the following attachments:
Victoria Police Name Check
Verification of Professional Indemnity Insurance
Character Reference
Letter of recommendation as a loss & grief counsellor or educator (normally from an agency for which you are, or have, worked)
Copy of official transcripts related to educational qualifications
Evidence of hours of practice completed or education delivered
Letter from your supervisor attesting to hours of supervision
Current CV
A signed copy of the NALAG code of ethics
Once your application is approved you must provide attend the mandatory
workshop before your accreditation documents will be forwarded to
you. You may choose to attend the workshops prior to application.
VICTORIA POLICE CHECK
All applicants are required to provide a Victorian Name Check Certificate
(Police Check). To do this ring the Victoria Police Centre - Criminal
Records Branch on 03 9247 5907. They will forward you a consent
form to sign and return. On completion of the police check you will
be provided with a Victorian Name Check Certificate. This certificate
must be forwarded to the Association with your application.
PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY INSURANCE
All accredited counselors and educators are required
to hold professional indemnity insurance in the amount of $2 million
per claim, $4 million in the aggregate. Verification of current
professional indemnity insurance must be forwarded to the Association
with your application.

A current CV should be included with all applications.
