Loss & Grief and Chronic Illness
This workshop will provide theory, practice and case examples
about loss and grief in the context of chronic Illness.
Aims / Objectives:
- To increase understanding of the links between loss
and grief and chronic illness
- To increase confidence to assist people experiencing loss
and grief who also have a chronic illness
- To provide information on and practice in loss and grief
counselling in the context of chronic Illness
Target Audience:
Clinical and support professionals working with people affected
by chronic illness and loss and grief. |
Chris Gilfillan
Chris has been working in the field for 10
years at Maryborough District Health Service. Her work has
been as an outreach social/welfare worker and now as a social
worker in the hospital. She has extensive practical experience
working with individuals and families with chronic illnesses.
She has been involved in supporting and setting up various
groups including cancer support groups, asperger's support
group and co facilitates a women's depression and anxiety
group. Chris also co facilitates a 10 week program for people
with chronic illness.
Chris has a Bachelor of Education,
a Diploma of Community Services (Welfare Studies) and a Graduate
Certificate in Bereavement Counselling Methods. Chris is currently
completing her Bachelor of Social Work (Advanced Standing)
at La Trobe University.
